Corning has launched Gorilla Glass 7i, which we can see in mid-range and affordable smartphones. However, this will prove to be a new upgrade for the device because until now, Victus 5 or any other was being used in all the devices. But this new upcoming Gorilla Glass version promises to give better protection from falls and scratches.

The company has clearly stated that 7i will be safe even if it falls on a rough surface of up to 1 meter. At the same time, Gorilla Glass 5 was launched in 2016, which seems weak in many cases. Therefore, to overcome these, the company is going to launch the 7i in the market, and it is expected that it will have more modern measures. The upcoming Gorilla Glass 7i Coring supports a tough cover-glass portfolio.

This new glass is capable of meeting the needs of phone manufacturers while being within budget. It will also support high-quality displays in the device. Apart from this, the company says that it is more than twice as drop—and scratch-resistant as some other lithium aluminosilicate cover glasses and has been tested to be durable.

While lithium aluminosilicate glasses usually fail after a drop from a height of half a meter or less, the Gorilla Glass 7i stands intact. This glass will be a boon or a new solution for the manufacturers of mid-range smartphones, providing better screen protection.
