July 20, 2023: Initial Story
Nothing’s new Phone (2) runs on Nothing OS 2.0 at the time of its flagship launch. This updated version improves on Nothing OS 1.5 in several different areas, including a glyph interface, monochrome icons, new home screen layout options, app shortcuts and folders, widgets, lock screen customization, and more. Once again, Nothing has confirmed that the Phone 1 will get Nothing OS 2.0 in August with the Nothing icon pack.
In June 2023, Pei shared the news via his Twitter account, stating that software support is important to the company and that Nothing OS 2.0 will be available to Phone 1 users by the end of August. This was great news for Phone 1 users who feared the update would not make it to the handset.
Now again, Nothing has shared the news via its Twitter account, adding that it will complete the look of your Phone (2) with the Nothing Icon Pack application, available for download via Google Play Store. It comes with a Nothing-style monochrome color scheme and allows your third-party apps to combine app icons with your Nothing widget for one look. This app is designed to reduce distractions and make interactions with your smartphone more intentional.
Alongside introducing the Nothing Icon Pack application, the company confirmed that Phone (1) users will download the Nothing Icon Pack with the Nothing OS 2.0 software update in late August.
On the flip side, Nothing Phone 2 is receiving a minor update ahead of the first sale on July 21st. The update comes with firmware version Nothing OS 2.0.1 and weighs about 105MB. The company has rolled out a new update for the device with several new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
