OPPO Becomes India’s Top Smartphone Brand in Q2 in India: Report
Last month, market research firm Canalys Research revealed that Samsung was the largest smartphone brand in India during the second quarter of this year. Meanwhile, another market research firm IDC published its new report sharing the analysis of the Indian smartphone market. According to an IDC report, BBK Electronics (including OPPO and OnePlus) has overtaken Samsung and Apple to become India’s largest smartphone brand in the year’s second quarter.
OPPO become the no 1 smartphone brand in India:
According to a report by market research firm IDC, Oppo’s smartphone market share in India, it stood at 18.2% in the second quarter of 2023, which includes the OPPO (11.0%), as well as its sub-brand, OnePlus (7.2%). This is an increase of 2.4% in its market share in the second quarter of 2022, which was 15.8%.
According to the report, 17 million 5G smartphones were shipped in 2Q23 with an ASP of US$366, down 3% year-on-year. OnePlus, Samsung and Vivo were the leaders in the 5G segment, with a combined share of 54%. Also, Apple’s iPhone 13 and OnePlus’ Nord CE3 Lite were the best-selling 5G models in 2Q23.
Xiaomi & Realme Report:
Xiaomi and Realme were the brands that saw the most significant drop in sales. Xiaomi ranks 5th with a market share of 11.0%, down from 39.4% last year. Realme’s market share is expected to decline from 17.5% in Q2 2022 to 12.6% in Q2 2023. This is a massive 39.4% year-on-year decline, which shows missteps in the company’s strategy.
Apple Report
Apple made huge strides in India and increased its market share from 3.3% in Q2 2022 to 5.5% in Q2 2023, an increase of 61.1%. The company’s iPhone 13 series was hugely popular among buyers in the flagship category.
