OnePlus is all set to debut its very first foldable device, known as the “OnePlus Open”. The die heart fans community is waiting for the device. Meanwhile, the brand increases the enthusiasm among fans by giving an official look at an early build of the model through an exclusive interview, which shows off the brand’s up-to-date foldable hinge build and “gapless” design.
However, the company is familiar with the foldable market, as it has preceding experience in foldable through its Oppo lineup named Oppo Find N and N2. Still, the fact is nothing is there under the flagship branding. Finally, the brand is going to announce its first foldable under the OnePlus branding.
According to information, in a recent sit-down interview, Unbox Therapy was given a very early model of the OnePlus Open, complete alongside carefully placed paper to block the view of the camera and other additional physical details which probably give away any close-guarded information. Then, Pete Lau discusses the details surrounding the upcoming model and what that entails.
OnePlus keeps hold of over 600 patents surrounding elements of the hinge alone, which is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges in manufacturing foldable devices. The brand features its Open by gapless design, which is pretty similar to the Oppo Find N2. Noticeably, this upcoming foldable has 31 more components in comparison.
Pete has Lew close the OnePlus Open with a piece of paper tucked inside. And according to him, the actual gapless design is what makes that possible. For an outside viewer, it looks much like a case of strong magnets laid across the outer edges of the inner display. Apart from this, the video displays the early build of OnePlus’ upcoming Open from some key angles. Both closed and open, the build looks sharp, even though it’s clearly unfinished.
The brand states that Oppo chief product officer Peter Lau, who also co-founded OnePlus, directed teams at both companies to develop the device jointly to be released under both brands in different markets. However, the email did not say which smartphone will go where. However, the brand OnePlus didn’t even name the phones in the announcements, but they are the phones rumoured to be named the OnePlus Open and the Oppo Find N3.
In short, it is expected that the upcoming OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 will arrive in different markets with the same features. At the same time, Oppo disclosed that the phone’s hinge would be 37 percent stronger. It is also rumoured that the phone will feature a 7.82-inch inner display along with a 6.31-inch outer one. The memory package may have up to 24GB of RAM and at least up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
