Samsung Officially Introduced SSD 990 EVO, a Power Efficient Solid State Drives

Samsung announced its latest and the world’s first hybrid PCIe interface SSD, the 990 EVO, earlier this month. With that, Samsung has officially released it as a part of its EVO SSD lineup. The latest drives come in two interfaces, including x4 PCIe 4.0 and x2 PCIe 5.0, respectively.

Samsung provides the new SSD 990 EVO with two storage capacities, including 1TB and 2 TB, respectively. Compared to the predecessor, 970 EVO, the new SSD has a higher price tag of $124.99 and $209.99. Samsung’s new SSD would probably be faster and more efficient.

As mentioned, there are two interfaces on the 990 EVO SSD, and both the bandwidths offer almost similar performance, which is up to 5,000 or 4,200 MB/s, respectively. It has an efficient 5nm controller as well as the brand’s 133-layer V6P TLC NAND flash. In order to fulfill current computing requirements, the latest hybrid design with a PCIe 5.0 x2 interface is designed.

At the same time, the single-sided design and the combination of PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 5.0 x2 make the new 990 EVO SSD perfectly suitable for laptops as well as PS5.
