Realme 12 Pro Review: Is This a Good Performing Mid-range Device?
Realme just concluded the launch event of its next and latest Pro series, the realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, respectively. The brand has revealed both the models with several essential yet advanced features and specifications. In contrast, the realme 12 Pro which comes within the mid-range category features numerous impressive specifications, including power-efficient Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, premium watch design, curved vision display, and more. Meanwhile, despite coming with such incredible features, does the phone stand out over all of its features within such an amazing price point? Let’s find this out in the in-depth review mentioned below.
Realme 12 Pro: Detailed Review
As every smartphone’s specifications looks amazing and eye-catchy on-paper, but reality comes with the detailed yet practical experience, while the same goes with the realme 12 Pro device as well. With that, let’s begin with the in-depth review of the new-arrival, the realme 12 Pro, as I have presented some essential points covering each aspect of the phone.
Realme 12 Pro Design:
To start off, look wise the new realme 12 Pro sports an elegant design with a premium leather back finish that significantly offers the device an amazing look and feel. Simultaneously, realme follows the tradition in order to upgrade the design that offers much premium yet fantastic design to the device, as it features a luxury watch design, which certainly makes it a premium luxury device. With the vegan leather back finish, which is made up of a high-resistant material that’s much durable and you don’t have to worry about getting your finger imprints on its back.
At the sametime, speaking of its back panel design, not only the leatherback finish looks great, but also the camera placement and module seems attractive to me. The phone is equipped with a circular-shaped camera module that consists of several hints of gold color, which is known as the luxury watch design, while a golden vertical line running from the top to bottom of the device. With curved yet smooth edges gives it a comfortable in-hand feel. Also, you can see the side frame, which is made up of plastic and there’s realme branding at the bottom.
On the left hand side, the phone doesn’t have anything, while there are volume rockers and a power on/off buttons at the right side, respectively.
Coming to the ports and buttons, the phone comes with a SIM card tray, a microphone, USB Type-C charging port, and a speaker grill, respectively at the bottom. On the flip side, at the top, you will get to see a speaker grill along with another microphone. Overall, I loved the design of the realme 12 Pro with its premium-looking leather back panel adding a great aesthetic to the phone’s stunning design.
Realme 12 Pro Display:
Coming to the display, the realme 12 Pro features a big 6.7-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with 120Hz fast refresh rate and provides up to 950 nits of peak brightness. The display provides a nice viewing experience while watching videos or streaming any web series, you will get to experience some decent color contraction and saturation. However, I found a little difficulty in viewing its screen outdoors in the bright light. But probably you will be able to see the display better. At the same time, the display offers up to 93% screen to body ratio, making the screen quick and much more responsive.
Realme 12 Pro Software and performance:
With regards to the software, the new realme 12 Pro runs on the Android 14-based realme UI 5.0, out of the box, which tends to offer smooth yet highly responsive UI experience, while also a perfect customizable user experience. This certainly allows you to customize the phone according to your preferences. However, following the same tradition, the realme 12 Pro also comes with several bloatwares and pre-installed applications, respectively that can be uninstalled very easily.
Speaking of its performance, the realme 12 Pro is powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, I have noticed some decent performance at this price segment. Apart from the normal usage, you can also perform some heavy multitasking seamlessly, including gaming as well. Simultaneously, while playing some heavily loaded games like Call of Duty, I was getting an average lag free yet smoother gaming experience with high settings at 60fps. So you could use the device for your certain gaming sessions as well.
Battery Capacity and Charging:
The realme 12 Pro comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery capacity with 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging support, which can charge the device from 1%-50% in just 19 minutes, allowing you to use your phone worry free without looking for the charger. This certainly means that you will be able to use the phone with normal usage and it can give you battery backup of an entire day, while heavy usage will get a few hours covered easily.
Realme 12 Pro Camera:
Coming to the camera capabilities, the realme 12 Pro is equipped with a triple rear camera setup with camera lenses arranged in a circular-shaped camera module having a 50MP main camera, a 32MP telephoto portrait camera, and an 8MP ultrawide camera, respectively. On the flip side, the device comes with a 16MP selfie shooter that allows you to capture some decent selfies. In contrast, the camera hardware is better than average, especially when it comes in such a price range, while it allows you to capture some good pictures, can’t say best pictures, as it captures some good pictures with excellent details, still the camera hardware is not as great as it was being hyped.
Network and connectivity:
With respect to the network and connectivity, the realme 12 Pro has all the eligible 5G bands support, including n1/n3/n5/n8/n28B/n40/n41/n77/n78, respectively. On the flip side, speaking of the connectivity features, the phone sports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.2 connectivity support.
Should you prefer buying?
The realme 12 Pro comes with some decent performing features, including its good display, stunning design, proficient camera capabilities, reliable battery life with fast charging support, and good performance, respectively. However, the phone comes with numerous bloatwares and several pre-installed applications, which is annoying, while setting up the phone, still they can be uninstalled easily and you need to anyways tolerate them! Overall, you can consider it buying, as the smartphone is better at such price point.
