Android 15 may bring taskbar from tablets to phones

Android 15 beta 4.2

Google is working on optimizing Android’s UI for foldable phones, tablets, and large-screen devices, but it also brings many exciting features. Android devices have their own taskbar with a dock at the bottom of every screen so that users can quickly switch between apps. Android 15 is still in beta phase; it will be released soon in a stable version.

Android 15 Tiny Taskbar

Android’s taskbar has undergone many changes, including new design and functionality, but it is only available on large-screen devices. However, this change will also be seen in the upcoming Android 15 release, which is preparing to bring Google’s taskbar to phones.

This taskbar was first seen in the Android 12L release of 2022. Moreover, it was constantly visible on the screen and spanned the entire display width, but with the release of Android 13, Google created a new feature to hide the taskbar by pressing long.

Old Vs New

With Android 13, Google has also redesigned the taskbar that appears on the screen only briefly and disappears after a few seconds if the user does not interact with it. It takes up very little space on the device but could be better for multitasking. Google has now added a button to return the old taskbar style in Android 15.

With the upcoming Android 15 update, the taskbar will take a lot of work to multitask on smaller screens like smartphones, but it can be very useful on larger devices. This is why Google is optimizing the taskbar for smaller screens so that you can also benefit from multitasking.

The small taskbar feature has already been mentioned in Android 15 beta 4. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation from Google that this small taskbar will be released, and it is possible that beta four still needs to be fully ready. Hopefully, Google will continue to improve the small taskbar so that it is also ready for Andriod 15 QPR.
