Google’s new identity check feature rolling out to Pixel devices

Google has recently announced about a new security feature called as ‘identity check” for the devices. Now the company has started rolling it out to its Pixel devices.

What is the identity check feature?

As name implies, the identity check feature brings an extra security layer to verify the identity with explicit biometric authentication changes, it will verify the setting on different sensitive services

From the sesitive services such as:

  • Access saved passwords and passkeys with Google Password Manager.
  • Autofill passwords in apps from Google Password Manager, except in Chrome.
  • Change screen lock, like PIN, pattern, and password.
  • Change biometrics, like Fingerprint or Face unlock.
  • Run a factory reset.
  • Turn off Find My Device.
  • Turn off any theft protection features.
  • View trusted places.
  • Turn off Identity Check.
  • Set up a new device with your current device.
  • Add or remove a Google Account.
  • Access Developer options.
  • Change your password from [Google] account settings or through “Forgot password.”
  • Add or change recovery factors on the device.

With this feature, you will get more secure on your phone; even if someone is aware about your pin it cannot access the personal data management options.

To activate the identity check on your device, follow the below steps:

  • First go to the system settings
  • then tap on the “security and privacy” option
  • then touch the device unlock and go to the identity check option.

Note: to get the activation, you need to sign in the Google account first and have a screen lock, biometrics, and trusted places
