Google Releases Enhancements to Google Meet

  • The new improvements to Google Meet will significantly enhance the overall user experience.
  • The latest update is currently rolling out for Google Meet users on Web and meeting room hardware.

Google pushes its video conferencing service, Google Meet, into its first and crucial update of 2024, which brings plenty of useful and helpful improvements to its ultra-low latency live streaming feature, which made its debut last year.

With the ultra-low latency viewing experience for video meetings, Google has introduced several new upgrades and improvements in order to enhance the overall experience. With that, Google Meet is significantly getting a few improvements, and the most prominent enhancement now includes the ability of meeting hosts to add or start live streaming from any Meet call that’s already in progress, even if the respective Meet call wasn’t planned to be streamed live.

On the flip side, for the live stream viewers, it’s now easy to see how many audience members (call participants and viewers) are currently watching the live stream by navigating to the live stream indicator placed at the top left corner.

Now there’s a new quick access button on the join screen, making it easier for the meeting participants to just tap and join a live stream. With that, the company has also added an enhanced facility for joining large audience live streams, allowing the video feeds to begin comparatively faster.

Finally, the Google Meet mobile app will now support viewing live streams on both Android and iOS devices. Furthermore, Google Meet on Web and meeting room hardware will receive this latest update, gradually followed by the Google Meet Mobile app and Gmail in the near future.
