Samsung has started releasing its new Wear OS 4-based One UI 5 Watch update to its Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 as well. This update includes lots of enhancements by offering improved health tracking, fresh watch faces, the latest Tiles, activity, and many more new features. Apart from the most interesting, it supports the upcoming Watch Unlock feature.
One UI 5 Watch Arrive With Support Of Watch Unlock Feature For Unlocking Smartphone
The Korean Brand ‘Samsung’ has started dispatching a new Wear OS 4-based One UI 5 Watch update in a few countries. With Wear OS 4, Google attached the ability to unlock Android smartphones, which are paired with a smartwatch. It seems similar to how an Apple Watch could unlock a paired iPhone device. Now, users don’t even need to enter any PIN password or biometric information to unlock the smartphone while wearing a Wear OS 4 smartwatch.
This feature will effectively help in scenarios like when the users are in driving stages wearing a helmet and can’t use Face Unlock or when their fingers are wet or dirty. However, this convenient feature is not available yet, but it is highly expected that it could be released with a future software update.
A well-known leaker, Mishaal Rahman, revealed this feature a few days ago for the Pixel Watch. Meanwhile, it seems like in future updates, this feature will be available to all smartwatches based on Wear OS 4, which includes Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6. Watch Unlock is a more secure method, and it can unlock a paired phone, provided that the smartwatch itself is opened using a PIN/ password or any other authentication technique. Notably, this feature is just different from Android’s Smart Lock function.
