OnePlus recently launched its flagship device, the OnePlus Open, and is on the way to announce the OnePlus 12 soon. And here the catch is after being a flagship device, and the brand didn’t bless the OnePlus Open with a wireless charging facility. Wireless charging basically eliminates the cable typically required to charge mobile phones, cordless appliances, and many more.

The fan community of the brand has had for years now when it’s asked about the lack of wireless charging on its flagship Android smartphones. And unfortunately, the OnePlus Open, which costs Rs. 1,39,999, also has a lack of wireless charging functionality. Qi wireless charging was once a pretty nice feature, but only found on devices here or there.

With wide adoption from various brands, for instance, Samsung, Google, and Apple, wireless charging has become a standard feature at the time, specifically in the US tech markets. This is the facility that customers expect on their devices after paying such a high price on the higher end of the market.

The brand previously launched its OnePlus 11 and now the OnePlus Open. Both are flagship devices and have tons of convenient features, but it’s hard to say they lack the wireless charging, which each single one of their competitors offers.

However, OnePlus is not new in the wireless industry because its OnePlus 9 Pro has both 50W wireless charging support along with 65W wired charging. So, the brand can not even use the excuse that it’s not possible to offer both.

With the release of the OnePlus 11, the company stated that.

If the wired charging is fast enough… then the scenario for the user’s need for wireless charging is limited.”

With this statement, it seems that the company feels the users just don’t need wireless charging because wired charging is fast enough.

Here’s Why OnePlus Not Support Wireless Charging On OnePlus Open

The reason is its physical state. That giant camera on the back of the OnePlus Open is huge. Because of the size of that camera, wireless charging would be too experienced on the OnePlus Open in the scenario if it were installed. For tech reasons, the bump is too big so it would add a few of distance between the wireless charging coil and the charger itself.

Meanwhile, it doesn’t seem that anyone would complain about this lack because a stunning camera is ten times better and worth the loss of wireless charging in my mind. But it might be possible that the brand, after this controversy, offers wireless charging support.
