Samsung now sells two versions of foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold and the Galaxy Z Flip. However, the business is rumored to be considering the release of a third type of foldable gadget this year.

According to rumors, Samsung is working on a new foldable phone with a unique form factor that will be available in the second half of 2022.

Sources leaked that the new foldable Samsung phone might also have rollable display

Ice Universe, a reliable source that has a good track record of releasing information about new Samsung products, reports that the company’s third foldable gadget is now under development. Internally, the phone is known as “Diamond,” and it is expected to hit the market in the second half of this year.

Furthermore, Ice Universe has posted a photo of some Samsung executives holding the future smartphone. Although the image does not provide a full view of the smartphone, it does suggest that the phone will have a distinct design factor.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, the forthcoming Samsung foldable appears to lack a hinge. This leads us to assume that may have a rollable display. Ice Universe also claims that the phone has a “high possibility of being a scroll screen phone,” which adds fuel to the fire.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung announced plans to bring slidable screens to market in 2021 during its Q4 2020 earnings call early last year. Then, in May, at Display Week 2021, Samsung unveiled a prototype smartphone featuring a rollable/slideable OLED display. Although Samsung did not release a smartphone with a rollable display last year, the current rumor claims that the firm is now ready to bring the unique display technology to market.

The design of Samsung’s next rollable display smartphone might be similar to that of OPPO’s prototype OPPO X 2021 smartphone. If that’s the case, the phone will very certainly have a mechanical component that expands and contracts the rollable display dependent on the user’s demands.
