Is Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Waterproof?
Samsung always ensures to put a lot of emphasis on the durability of its smartphones, and Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is no different. Still, there’s a lot to see, including a number of great features and functionalities that are being brought by the latest Galaxy device but with a hint of added functions with regards to the durability of the device. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 FE has come up with several impressive features, though, unlike every Android smartphone, the biggest enemy of a smartphone is water. Since the latest Galaxy S23 FE is durable, the question that arises is, is the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE really waterproof, or is it just water-resistant?
No doubt Samsung has induced several interesting features and enhancements in the Galaxy S23 FE device, but users have yet to see a fully waterproof smartphone from the brand, and the Galaxy S23 FE is no exception. Coming with industry-standard level IP68 ratings, the latest Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is fully dustproof, but it is just water resistant. The brand claims that the device has been tested under controlled laboratories and has come to the conclusion that the device is fully capable of handling dust particles and can easily survive submersion in water for up to the maximum depth of 1.5 meters and for around 30 minutes.
What do IP68 ratings stand for?
IP, or the Ingress Protection rating, is an important measurement in order to determine the protection level of the internal components of a smartphone. Through these ratings, it can be determined how much protection your device holds from certain external elements, including fine solid particles like dust and liquid components like water. An IP rating comprises two elements. The first digit following the IP ratings highlights that the smartphone is fully capable of handling fine solid particles of dust, which makes it a dustproof device.
Whereas if the first digit is 6, it clearly indicates that the smartphone is fully dustproof. On the other hand, the last digit following the IP ratings indicates the protection against liquid substances, including water. If the last digit in an IP rating is 8, then it’s considered the highest level of protection against water.
In conclusion, we can say that the latest Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has a high-level IP68 rating, which perfectly makes it a dustproof device. It’s water resistant, not waterproof. Do note that although the smartphone has been tested under a controlled laboratory with several advanced equipment, it’s still not recommended to take the Galaxy S23 FE device for certain water activities like swimming as it has received its IP ratings for fresh water and pool chlorine rich water can adversely harm your device performance and can cause some potential risk to your smartphone. Also, the IP ratings can be easily degraded over time after some wear and tear.
