Developing a new background color for the web client version of its dark theme with a slimmed-down sidebar, which is hoped to make the interaction more convenient and aesthetically pleasing while cutting down on eye strain in low light settings.
This upcoming interface update is scheduled for inclusion in a future version. When we last spoke about it three months ago, WhatsApp was developing a new sidebar as part of its efforts to modernize the web client interface and provide an upgraded messaging experience for users.
While the sidebar is yet to be finished, it has been found that WhatsApp also plans on having a color for the dark theme of its own. Besides improving aesthetics, this addition is also expected to make for a more attractive interface. The softer color scheme (from #12 b 20 to #13 d c) is more subtle but produces a greater impact, comparely beneficial in low-light environments. It offers users better eyesight protection and provides them with an overall comfortable environment.
It is clear that WhatsApp intends to bring out a new color scheme for a dark theme, and this will be pushed in an upcoming update of select beta testers. This update is beyond being simply visually attractive; it serves to appeal specifically to users ‘tastes for a revamped experience.
The corresponding transition towards a new hue for the dark theme also reflects WhatsApp’s recent freshening up of its Android app with changes like, among other things, a bottom navigation bar and an updated color palette in the case of dark mode. That consistency across platforms is intended to make it more comfortable for users switching between interfaces so that things look relatively familiar and cohesive.
