Chrome 100 Beta new features and functions revealed: What’s new?
Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are both nearing version 100, which has the potential to affect several websites that improperly check for browser versions. Both browsers have been working on potential solutions, and Chrome 100 has now landed in the Beta Channel, bringing modifications to version reporting as well as other new capabilities.
“Chrome 100 will be the final version to offer an unreduced User-Agent string by default,” Google noted in a Chrome blog post (as well as the related navigator.userAgent, navigator.appVersion, and navigator.platform DOM APIs). On April 19, 2022, the original experiment that permitted sites to test the entirely reduced User-Agent will come to an end. The User-Agent String will be steadily lowered after that date.”
This article shares further details about this function and other detailed features about the Chrome 100 Beta.
Chrome 100 Beta features and functions explained
For decades, the user agent string has been a critical component of online browsers, enabling sites to adjust their behavior depending on the browser, browser version, CPU architecture, and other characteristics.
Browsers have gradually begun to restrict the information accessible in the user agent string (for example, the user agent string on all iPhones does not contain the iPhone model) since it may easily be exploited for fingerprinting. Instead of utilising user agent strings, Google recommends using the updated User Agent Client Hints API, which is more secure and less likely to crash websites.

Chrome Beta 100 adds a few new features as well. On desktop platforms, there is a new Multi-Screen Window Placement API that enables sites to identify monitors attached to your computer and position separate windows on certain screens. Origin Trials (essentially opt-in betas for web capabilities) are also available for the Digital Goods API and a few new JavaScript features.
