A few days ago, Google released the first public beta of the Android 14 operating system, which comes with new features and customizations related to user interaction, like a back arrow, custom sends options, and more. Meanwhile, the company is testing new features for its applications. In a recent development, the US tech giant is now testing putting read receipts status in your Google Messages conversation list.
Back in March, Google Messages proposed new read receipt icons that replaced the simple text-based ‘Sending,’ ‘Sent,’ ‘Delivered,’ and ‘Read’ message notifications. After they’re official, the company tests these icons in the Messages conversation list view.
Google Messages now shows new read check marks in your inbox with Material You theme support. This negates the need to open the conversation and check if the message has been read. If the message is delivered to the recipient, you’ll see a pair of checkmarks inside a circle to the left of your message. In addition, these check marks will be filled with Material You color if your message has been read by the recipient.
As per a previous report, Google Messages brings a new ‘send photos faster’ resolution option, which will reduce image quality to RCS to send them faster. Let us share that this new feature is not yet widely available to all, so it may take some time to cover all eligible units. However, it is available to developers at the moment.
