A few weeks ago, Samsung released the July 2023 security update for the Galaxy S21 series. However, at that time, the update was limited to the global versions of these phones. Now, the US variant of the Galaxy S21 series has started receiving the new security update along with the Galaxy A52 5G.

The latest software update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 comes with firmware version G99*USQS8EWG1 in the US. The update is now available on T-Mobile, Sprint’s network but could expand to more carriers soon. The new update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A52 5G is now live with firmware version A526USQSAEWG1 on Metro PCS, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks in the US.

The July 2023 security patch in the new software update fixes over 90 security flaws. This is just an SMR (Security Maintenance Release), so don’t expect the new software update to bring new features or performance improvements. The update has been delayed for a couple of weeks, but it is finally here.

If you have a carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 or Galaxy A52 5G, you can check for the new update. To do so, head over to Settings » Software Update and tap on Download and Install.
