Google is taking steps towards more security as per the user’s convenience. Recently, the company announced that it is providing more security to its messages in the Google app with the Rich Communications Services (RCS) facility. On behalf of this matter, the company stated that it will now, for both new as well as existing Message apps make RCS as default for the users.
Google has been preparing end-to-end encryption for group chats for the last few months, and finally, Google Messages fully released it with the facility of RCS by default. However, This new feature is available for all users but users who previously ignored the RCS prompt, so the company may ask them to agree with the Terms and Conditions of Service Provided by their carrier network.
The users who once turned off the RCS facility previously then it will stay disabled. Moreover, the users have the eligibility to disable it anytime from their Messages settings >> RCS chat menu. In 2021, Google launched a stable end-to-end encryption facility for 1:1 conversations, and since January 2023, it has stated its preparation to give this privacy facility to group chats as well. This end-to-end encryption keeps the user’s conversation more private with lock signs.
With this RCS-enabled and end-to-end encryption, the users will get more advanced security features for their 1:1 and group conversation. And also, get modern messaging features; for instance, sharing high-res photos and videos and seeing a typing indicator when the other person is typing, the users will get a typing indicator.
