Instagram Could Terminate Direct Messaging With Facebook Friends
Over 77% of internet users, which is approximately 3.59 billion people, are active on at least one Meta platform, and that’s a big thing. It owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads platforms, all of which are the most visited and popular apps. Meta has given users the facility to connect their friends between two platforms, Facebook and Instagram. As per the reports, it is revealed that the brand decided to end the cross-app messaging support between Instagram and Facebook.
Previously, in 2020 Ins, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri introduced the cross-platform messaging feature, which helps users easily communicate with their friends; for instance, users from their Instagram handle can easily message their Facebook friends and vice versa. But unfortunately, the brand has now decided to discontinue this feature.
A post on ‘X’ shared by well-known tipster @alex193a, also a software reverse engineer, revealed that the users might no longer be able to chat with their Facebook friends on Instagram from mid-October when the existing conversation threads will become read-only. However, he did not reveal any further information related to the change except for this.
However, Meta has not officially revealed any statement or announcement about the rumored change, so it is not sure that these changes will happen now. The reason behind this change is unknown, why is the company taking this step? Meanwhile, suppose the online hypothesis is to be believed. In that case, it could be because of regulatory scrutiny, as linking two massive, gigantic social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram may have violated competition laws in critical markets such as the U.S.
Now it remains to be seen whether the users will be able to share stories, reels, and posts between Instagram and Facebook or not, or these facilities will also be closed with messages. There has yet to be an official confirmation of when these facilities Meta will end.
