Google is back with a new update for Gboard to enhance the user’s experience. The company, through this update, offered a new dedicated Resize tab in the Gboard, but here’s a twist: Google has given something with one hand and has also taken something with the other hand. Check out the article for detailed information.

Google is rolling out the latest update for Gboard with its identification build number, which is 13.4.08. However, for now, the update is in its beta stage but officially announced for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices.

Exactly What’s Going On In Gboard’s v13.4.08

With the latest update with the version number mentioned above, the company is offering a new ‘Resize tab’ in the Gboard, but on the other side, removing the sufficiently beneficial “Keyboard height” settings. Google, in the latest Gboard update, ditched the option to customize the height of the keyboard.

Now, the users to resize their keyboard size have to go to the toolbar or shortcuts page. This allows them to make adjustments by dragging the two pull tabs palace at the top and bottom. The users are also able to place the key higher, with the ability to leave a gap between the spacebar and the system home bar.

Previously, in Gboard settings under the preferences option, the users had a “Keyboard height” button, and tapping on that, a new dialogue box popped up which included;

  • Extra-short
  • Short
  • Mid-short
  • Normal
  • Mid-Tall
  • Tall
  •  Extra-tall

But by this new update, all these seven increments are now gone. In the place of these options, a new “One-handed mode” is only placed under “Layout.”

However, the new update is a more visually friendly way to make adjustments in Gboard. Still, I have to say not having fixed increments which might be annoying if the users are trying to maintain the same height across devices, like after getting a new one.
