Google Messages Introducing Voice Memo Feature For Wear OS
After a long test, Google Messages finally rolled out the facility of voice memos for the Wear OS application. Previously, it was revealed that the company is testing the voice memos feature for Wear OS apps, but now the feature has crossed its testing stage to arrive at the beta stage. So now the Wear OS Watch users are getting more power.
Google Messages, with this update, offers the ability to the users by which they can send and listen to voice memos directly from their wrist if they are Wear OS Watch users. Now, the users can open a conversation on their watch and tap the microphone icon flanked by emoji and keyboard input.
Previously, the users must have to enter “Voice to text” immediately, but now, through this new update, the users are getting the ‘Voice message’ option. Now, the voice messages will use a new waveform icon, which should also be arriving in the smartphone’s app when the broader redesign gets rolled out.
What’s New With The Update:
Now, the recording starts instantly with the UI featuring a progress ring so that the users can bring it up to their wrist. Also, the recording limit is 59 seconds, so the users are easily able to record up to 59 seconds, along with the ability to stop and send.
Now, the users can listen to voice messages on their watch, but for now, an obvious way to adjust the volume does not appear, with the crown just scrolling up & down the conversation thread. Google is offering the facility to users by which they can not only convert their voice to texts but send voice messages also.
The company is rolling out this voice memo feature with the latest Google Messages for Wear OS beta with the version number 20231010_01_RC00. However, this feature follows WhatsApp, offering a similar feature since its launch, whereas Google Messages would benefit from Wear OS Tiles, which display their inbox or act as shortcuts to conversations.
Noticeably, this voice action works if the users’ smartphone is set to English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese languages. Whereas some voice actions are not available in all languages and count countries or regions.
