In May 2023, the company launched a new chat lock feature in the WhatsApp application for more secure chats. Now, the company is rolling out new shortcuts to quickly lock chats on WhatsApp on Android.

WhatsApp Chat Lock Shortcut:

WhatsApp is introducing a new shortcut to instantly lock a chat. As always, the company has launched a new feature for beta users and it is still in the developing stage. Now, users can recognize this feature from the build number which is v2.23.22.4. At the time, the brand made this update available only to a few lucky beta testers and will soon make it widely available to everyone.

Now, we think this feature will be great for those who have reason to share their phone with a family member from time to time or in those moments when someone else has your phone at the exact same time. 

To access the new shortcut to quickly lock a chat, open WhatsApp on your smartphone, tap the chat you want to hide, tap Profile, scroll down, and switch on the Chat Lock option.

WhatsApp Chat Lock:

WhatsApp Chat Lock lets you keep your most intimate conversations safe behind another layer of security. If you’ve locked your chat, locking the chat moves that thread out of the Inbox and puts it behind its own folder, which can only be accessed with your device password or biometrics, such as your fingerprint. Also, this feature automatically hides the contents of that chat in notifications.

How To Use WhatsApp Chat Lock:

• Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
• Tap on the Chat you want to hide.
• Tap on the Profile
• Scroll down and tap the Chat Lock option.
• Here you see an opportunity. Lock this Chat with your fingerprint.
• Turn on the toggle and confirm with your fingerprint.
