Google’s Find My Device will get an upgrade that may include UWS and AR. You can take advantage of this to find a lost Android device. Find My Device can compete with Apple’s Find My network and may even prove to be better than it.

Find My Device UWS And AR Upgrades

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology has been used in Apple’s Find My network for a long time. To see UWS and AR upgrades in Find My Device, we have to update the latest Find My Device v3.1.078-1 app, but right now, Google is working on UWB features.

Google has not yet mentioned the use of UWB technology in Find My Device, so the company is expected to be still engaged in its development. As soon as this feature comes to the Find My Device network, it will be handed over to beta testers first, and then it will be suitable for all users.

With the help of UWB technology, high-precision indoor location tracking can be enabled. UWS AirTag also has an accurate location tracking feature, which is very useful for the user and can find the general area of the lost item. However, this feature is also found in Apple devices.

Google will use ARCore to add UWB support. You have to feed an ARCore camera with your device before you can use it. It can overlay it with directions and icons so you can easily find your device in your surroundings.

This technology was recently introduced to Galaxy SmartTag 2, and the technology has started a new generation of trackers for Android. Currently, the Find My Device app does not support UWB and AR-based location UI, but these features will be available soon.
