Texting 911 Through RCS Is Arriving In Google Messages on Android 

Google Messages has consistently provided users several new and valuable upgrades and features, including RCS texting. Meanwhile, this RCS texting feature will move a step forward, as Google is adding a new capability allowing users to text 911 using RCS in Google Messages on Android.


Google has partnered with Tech company RapidSOS to allow texting 911 via RCS

Texting 911 using RCS is now coming to Google Messages. Google has officially announced that the company has formed a new partnership with RapidSOS, allowing Android users to Text 911 via RCS. This will also enable users to see the read receipts and typo indicators from the emergency repliers, thus eliminating the need to wait for your message to be delivered. 

This newest text 911 via RCS further adds the benefit of the ability to share pictures and videos, which is rather not possible through regular SMS texting, while also offering the ability to send your accurate location along with other information faster and with more effective response through Android Emergency Location Service, including your language settings and other medical-related information, this will help the emergency repliers to know where they need to go while also getting helpful details to know where you are at that moment even when you are unable to reply. 

This latest partnership between Google and RapidSOS tech company Means that Messages’ RCS will start supporting Texting 911. This will allow Google Messages users to easily communicate with emergency centres using RCS. Google claims that this partnership is the company’s commitment to providing more safety to users while also expanding the accessibility of emergency services via RCS. 

Texting 911 through RCS is currently rolling out in the US

Texting 911 via RCS within Google Messages will gradually roll out to specific emergency call centers across the US beginning this winter. Meanwhile, this service will soon be available to each 911 agency at no cost in the US. Google aims to expand the RCS standard for emergency services texting more widely.
