Google Maps Beta Is Probably Responsible For Crashing Android Auto, Here’s The Quick Fix

Google has always tried to bring plenty of the best possible features and improvements across all of its apps and services, and Google Maps is no exception. Google Maps is considered the most incredible application, especially when it comes to navigation and exploration. Google Maps also works great with Android Auto. However, in the recent past, some users have reported that their Google Maps has been constantly crashing Android Auto.

Google Maps on Android Auto works exceptionally well and significantly helps while navigating and exploring through directions. Meanwhile, some users on Reddit have reported that their Google Maps is responsible for crashing their Android Auto. However, this happened after installing the latest version of Google Maps Beta, which carries v11.132.0100. 

This aforementioned beta version of Google Maps may be preventing Android Auto from functioning properly. Users on Reddit mentioned that starting the Android Auto app breaks up the Google Maps integration, crashing the Google Maps interface and forcefully throwing you back to the Android Auto app list. 

The user further pointed out that the Google Maps is working perfectly fine on an Android phone, but trying to integrate Maps with the Android Auto suddenly causes the Google Maps to crash. In contrast, if your Google Maps running Beta version is crashing on Android Auto, you can follow the simple fix, which is as follows:

Leaving the Google Maps Beta channel and uninstalling all the Maps updates could fix the issue

First, opt out of the Google Maps beta channel, as it might sound stable, but since it is a beta version, it could contain plenty of bugs and other instabilities. Here’s how to leave the Google Maps Beta channel:

  • Go to the Google Play Store.
  • Tap on your Profile icon at the top right.
  • Here, select the Manage apps & devices.
  • Tap on the Beta option and search for the Google Maps app in the list.
  • Once found, tap on it to open.
  • You will see a tab named- You are a beta tester. Tap Leave and then again select the Leave option.      

Once you have left the Google Maps beta version, you will required to uninstall updates for Google Maps to restore to the stable version; here’s how to do this:

  • Head to your device’s Settings 
  • Select Apps
  • Search for Google Maps within this list.
  • Select the Uninstall updates option.
  • Finally, tap OK.
