YouTube Music is now rolling out the long-awaited “Sound Search” feature for Android and iOS that lets you “Play, sing or hum any song.” Through this feature, you will also find songs easily. Before this, the brand introduced many other features in YouTube Music.

YouTube Music Sound Search Feature

In May of this year, YouTube Music discontinued “Sound Search,” but it became widely available again after some time. However, this feature can now be seen again on Android and iOS with version 7.10. To access this feature, you have to tap on the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner, and then you will see a new waveform icon next to the microphone.

However, the voice search capability is still uncharged, and it is faster than the main YouTube app, which keeps both search features on one screen with a switcher at the top so that you can find the songs and pages playing in both. A live search page on YouTube Music will also prompt you to play, sing, or hum a song.

This capability was first introduced for Google search in 2020 but was removed after some time. Now, it is working on Pixel devices as a Now Playing feature, and last October, this feature also came to the YouTube app. The AI feature is also used to match the sound to the original recording.

The recognition process in this new feature is quite fast, which results in you seeing cover art, song name, artist, album, years, and even download or offline status, play, and playlist shortcuts on the full-screen page. If you pull out from the top-left corner of this screen, you can do another search from the bottom.

The brand started testing these capabilities in March, while Google Play Music introduced something similar much earlier. The feature is expected to arrive with version 7.02 of YouTube Music for Android and should soon be rolled out to iOS as well.
