YouTube Music previously allowed users to generate AI art for playlist thumbnails, but now it can also let users upload their own custom images. This feature allows users to further personalize their playlists, making it easier to differentiate between them and adding a creative touch to their music collection.

The move is part of YouTube Music’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience. Today, users have noticed a new pencil icon in the bottom-right corner of the artwork when viewing playlists on music.youtube.com, which allows all users to “Choose from Library” and “Remove Custom images.”

Users can select any image from their PC and then crop the thumbnail. After selecting it, the playlist page updates after a second, and the background also refreshes, which can improve the user experience by improving the aesthetics of personal libraries.

The ability to personalize the YouTube Music library has been a highly requested feature. The playlist shows a 2×2 grid of albums, and another long-awaited feature is that liked music can customize the art for the playlist with the AI generator not working. This new feature has not been rolled out widely.
