Google is rolling out the Android 15 update for Pixel devices today. The brand has released about six betas for this new Android 15, and bug fixes have also been included in this update. This new update provides a way to provide better lock and privacy to protect apps on the phone or tablet. It has a predictive back, a new volume panel, improvements to widgets and wallpapers, the ability to save app pairs, automatic turn-on for Bluetooth, and much more.

Android 15 Launched To Pixel Devices

Users must go through a setup process to download it on Pixel devices. In this, the user will also have to sign in and set a new lock (PIN, password, fingerprint, and face). After this setup, “Private” appears below the app drawer. Some apps are present in it by default: Camera, Chrome, Contents, Files, Photos, Pixel Buds, and Play Store. Users can customize all these apps.

Additionally, features like theft detection, remote lock, and find my device can also be detected in the device. This new skin brings many better security options for biometrics. It also changes the icons and animations, making everything round.

Android 15 has moved the screenshot thumbnail to the top like a pill and introduced a new screensaver that shows home controls while charging. The Android 15 volume panel has been redesigned, with the slider accessible via a three-dot menu below it. It also has a larger Material U Slider that can be tapped to switch the output.

A new color contrast page has been added for wallpapers and other styles, which is more interactive than the Old developer options version. Many changes have also been made to the Pixel’s weather app. In this, users can choose between medium and high contrast, while “high contrast text” also allows you to “change the colour of the text to black and white.”

The Android 15 wallpaper picker improves the difference between the lock and home screen through a card-based UI. For the Circle to Search, you have to long press on the “action Key” on the left side of the device. To enable it, display the taskbar > long-press the divider > always show the taskbar. After that, you can use it easily.

You can add and save apps on the home screen, and new Bluetooth capabilities have also been introduced. If you want to install Android 15 right away, you can easily install the update on Google Pixel devices using the steps below –

  • Download the required files.
  • Boot into recovery mode.
  • Go to ADB sideload.
  • Connect the handset to a computer with the ADB tool installed.
  • Enter the sideload command.
  • Reboot your phone.

1. Download Android 15 files

Users can use two methods to install it: the factory image or an OTA file that installs over the current version without erasing their data.

2. Boot into recovery mode

Users can then boot into recovery mode on their Pixel devices. For this, the handset has to be completely turned off, and then the power and volume-down buttons have to be pressed simultaneously. After this, a bootloader page will open. After this, users can scroll to recovery mode using the volume buttons.

Finally, select it by clicking the power button. Press the power and volume up buttons for about a second to fully enter the recovery mode. After this, releasing the volume-up button will take you to recovery mode.

3. Go to ADB Sideload

Users can easily scroll down to Apply Update from ADB using the volume buttons and select it via the power button. This will then launch a blank screen, and below it will be text instructing users on how to sideload the OTA.

4. Connect the handset to a computer with the ADB tool installed

This step is the most important as it is the only way to transfer the downloaded OTA file to your handset. Users need to have the ADB and Fastboot tools in convenient locations for this.

5. Enter the sideload command

You can also sideload the OTA file. To do so, open the command prompt on Windows, navigate to the ADB tool folder, and type the adb sidebar. The same process can be used on macOS or Linux.

6 Reboot your phone

Once the OTA is installed, you will need to go back into recovery mode. The final step is to select the Reboot Now option with your power button, after which the new update will be installed.
