Google Contacts to replace fix and manage tab

Google Contacts has partnered with the modern Material You app, which may also bring some changes to Google Contacts. The design complaint of the Blocky scroll bar has been received in this new change, and after some workarounds, it has finally been addressed in the main Contacts tab.

The scroll bar in this new Contact tab that appeared while navigating the list is now rectangular and relatively wide. It also had a permanent track as you moved forward on the page, which seemed inconsistent with the equivalent contact list in the Phone App. The brand also gave it a slim and modern design.

On the other hand, the new Google Contacts now uses a pill-shaped scroll bar and includes new dynamic colour theming. In this, the scroll bar goes down to the bottom instead of ending just above the FAB. The first letter column in Google Contact has been removed, and you can now use more scroll bars.

The overflow menu has been removed from the search bar, and the “Select” option has been changed to a longer press on a contact to access the “Select” option, while “Select All” is now easily accessible. This change is set to rollout soon with version 4.42 of Google Contacts.
