Google is constantly experimenting with something and keeps giving new updates for enhancing the users experience even sometimes it gives earlier than necessary. Again, it is preparing to bring a new update to offer something interesting to the fan community. As per the recent reports, Google Maps is preparing for an updated color palette for the background map layer, which will surely draw some comparisons to Apple Maps.

Now, the brand is trying to put a blue shade for water, which is much lighter than its previous version; if this happens, it will come closer than Apple Maps. With this new update, users living near the ocean, lakes or rivers will get a noticeable and vibrant vibe. On the other hand, for the opposite directions, the brand is using a darker green with some blue shade for the nature regions for instance; parks, forests, etc.

Previously, the roads appeared in white, and now the brand plans to change the color of roads in Google Maps, which will turn grey and stand out much more. The thematic unity, freeways instead of yellow, will appear in dark grey, another similarity to Apple’s Map. For the busy areas, scenarios like traffic will still appear in yellow. The noticeable change is the dark theme, which remains unchanged and darker than Apple’s Map.

Apart from this, in the UI, the brand decided to use a much darker color for directions, green for the most critical information. With all of these new color shades, the Google Map will appear different with a fresh look as compared to its previous version. The update to water and roads will lead to this close comparison to Apple Maps, and the other change will enhance the visibility.

Alongside, Google Maps has a short Material 3 bottom bar but no dynamic shade. However all of these changes are in their developing stage and it is highly expected that as soon as possible the brand will make them available to all in future updates.
