Fitbit Pay To Be Replaced By Google Wallet In July

Google’s acquisitions are not so good in terms of Fitbit integration. Meanwhile, it appears like Google does not want to keep anything which relates the topics to Fitbit. Similarly, some recent reports suggest that Google is significantly wiping off the Fitbit integration, replacing Fitbit Pay with the Google Wallet.
Google Wallet will take the place of the Fitbit Pay, beginning from 29th July
According to the source shared by Droid Life, Google has sent emails to users who are still engaged in the Fitbit services, notifying them that Fitbit Pay will soon be transitioned to Google Wallet. Fitbit Pay will be discontinued completely, beginning on July 29th, 2024, and after that, no new cards will be accepted and added to Fitbit Pay.
Fitbit’s email further stated that this latest replacement of Fitbit Pay to Google Wallet would significantly increase the availability of cards and banks for contactless payments on your Fitbit-supported devices, while it will also allow you to pay rapidly anywhere and everywhere the Google Pay is acceptable. Also, Fitbit app users will be required to set up Google Wallet before the Fitbit app is entirely replaced with Google Wallet.
Here’s a short guide on how you can set up the Google Wallet on the Fitbit app
Moreover, you can easily switch to the Google Wallet on the Fitbit app’s 4.14.1 version or higher on Android or iOS devices. Here’s a quick guide on how you can set up Google Wallet on the Fitbit Pay app:
- On your Fitbit app, within the Today tab, tap on the device icon
- Select the Wallet option.
- Here, choose the Update to Google Wallet option.
- Now, sign in to your Google account.
- Finally, follow all the on-screen instructions that prompt you to add a card to Google Wallet. (remember, your cards will not be migrated from Fitbit Pay, so you will have to manually add a card to Google Wallet).
Moreover, the devices that will no longer support Fitbit Pay include the Fitbit Charge 4, Charge 5, Charge 6, Sense, Sense 2, Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa 4, and the Fitbit Charge 3 editions and Fitbit Versa, respectively. All the devices mentioned above support NFC payments.
