Google Rolled Out September 2023 Security Update For Pixel Device

The Android 14 Beta program first touched the floor in February; because of this, the fan community was highly expecting that official Google would roll out the Android 14 OS in August. The reason behind estimating August is that the company released its Android 13 officially on 15 August 2023. Unfortunately, instead of Android 14, the brand rolled out its latest September monthly security update based on Android 13. 

Firmware Details Of Google Pixel September 2023 Security Update 

Google gave information about the update through an official post on its Pixel Community forums, and the identification build number is TQ3A.230901.001 for the update on most Pixel variants. The brand makes this update available to all Pixel devices belonging from the 4a 5G variants to the Pixel Fold and Tablet. 

Here’s a noticeable fact: the standard Pixel 4a was only promised updates through August 2023 and, sadly, is not getting the latest September 2023 security update. In contrast, the Pixel 4a 5G variants are taken to pieces for support until November 2023. However, the 4a did not join the list of people getting Google’s Android 14 beta program, but the 4a 5G was, so somewhere, this was quite expected. 

What’s New In Google Pixel September 2023 Security Update 

With this update, 32 security vulnerabilities have been fixed, divided into two patches. The first set contains fixes for vulnerabilities within Android dated 1 September 2023, whereas the second set regards hardware-specific attack surfaces dated 5 September 2023.

All the bugs and known issues were fixed with the update, along with the fix of Bluetooth-related drawback, which allowed an attacker to remotely execute code on a device with no interaction from the users.

For downloading the latest September 2023 security update, the owners of the Pixel device can follow the steps mentioned here: Settings >> System >> System Update >> Check for updates. If the update is available, tap on Download and Install. Moreover, the update usually takes about a week to reach all Pixel users.
