Google’s Next-gen Foldable Could Be the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Not Pixel Fold 2; Suggests Reports
With some other Android smartphone manufacturers, Google also joined the foldable market, introducing its first-ever foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, last year. Some latest reports that are significantly floating around suggest that a new Pixel phone is going to be added to the upcoming flagship Pixel 9 series, which could be Google’s next foldable, probably Pixel 9 Pro Fold that is likely to be included in the lineup as well.
Google’s upcoming foldable could be named as Pixel 9 Pro Fold
According to some information, Google has dedicated codenames for its upcoming flagship Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 as tokey, Pixel 9 Pro as caiman, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL as komodo, respectively. Although all the aforementioned codenames have already been confirmed by certain software built for the Pixel 9 phones. However, it’s important to note that Google’s next foldable, the Pixel Fold 2 is eventually under development right now, it’s possible that the next foldable could be named Pixel 9 Pro Fold, too.
To put forth, if Google plans to launch a foldable that’s completely under the latest and upcoming Pixel 9 lineup, then it’s probably going to be the brand’s master move on making the next-gen foldable. Well, it’s likely but not entirely possible that Google’s next foldable could arrive as Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which is currently said to have the codename comet.
Furthermore, the next-gen Google foldable, which is currently said to have been named Pixel 9 Pro Fold, is expected to feature the latest Google Tensor G4 chip, moreover, a few leaked renders significantly reveal that the next foldable will sport a closely similar design as the upcoming Pixel 9 series, just opposite and different from the design of the first-gen foldable, the Pixel Fold, which looked more or less similar to the Pixel 7 model.
With that, it’s going to be interesting to see whether Google decides to stick to the same naming scheme for its next coming foldable or take a significant move to change the name for its next-gen flagship foldable. Meanwhile, people need to wait for the Google I/O 2024 event, held this fall, and see whether the next-gen foldable will be debuting alongside the upcoming Pixel 9 series.
