Google, with its unwavering commitment to enhancing the Android ecosystem, is consistently striving to provide its customers with a more convenient and elevated experience. As evidenced by the recent I/O 2024 conference, Google is poised to introduce a new Favorites widget for its Google Home app on Android, a testament to its user-centric approach to innovation.
Google Home will get a new Favorites widget feature on Android
Along with some essential announcements regarding the next iteration of the Android operating system, Android 15, Google further reveals that the Google Home app on Android is getting prepared to welcome a new Favorites widget. The folks of the new Favorites widget of the Google Home app clearly see that this new widget will have the Home app logo at the top left corner on one hand while also having a refresh button placed next to it.
With the introduction of the new Favorites widget, Google Home on Android is set to revolutionize the way users interact with their devices. Leveraging the Dynamic color theme, the widget seamlessly adapts to your phone’s home screen, offering a personalized experience. The default size is set to 5×3, but users have the freedom to customize it to their liking. This exciting update will enable users to effortlessly sort their favorite devices, actions, and automation.
To add the ‘Favorites’ widget to your home screen, simply long-press on an empty space on your home screen. The Google Home app will then ask you for widget controls. You can choose to sync to your favorites from the Home app or choose controls unique to this widget. Two options are available: favorites and Custom. Plus, if you have more than one home, you can easily change its settings.
The new ‘Favorites’ widget on the Google Home app on Android is currently spotted with version 3.18. However, it’s still rolling out and does not have the capability to turn on the widget yet. Google is expected to begin the rollout process for the new ‘Favorites’ widget on Android devices in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for updates.
