Samsung will launch upgraded Voice assistant Bixby with AI this year
Samsung is set to launch an upgraded version of its voice assistant Bixby based on an artificial Intelligence model this year, which can be seen globally soon. In addition, many other devices have been launched in this event that showcase AI capabilities.
After the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Samsung has also started developing and rolling out its AI features. Its chief, TM Roh, said in an interview that “the company will launch another upgraded Bixby this year, which uses the South Korean technology giant’s own large language model or LLM.”
However, before this, Bixby was launched with Samsung’s Galaxy S8 smartphone in 2017. This voice assistant also had many other functions, including live translation. A new feature in Bixby Vision adds the ability to a tool that allows users to scan objects in front of them with their phone’s camera and provide information about them.
It has been speculated that Samsung has been working on Bixby for a long time, but this is the first time the company has confirmed a launch timeline. It will also feature General AI or generative AI, artificial intelligence that can provide answers to questions or images. The confirmation of the Bixby upgrade comes just a month after Apple announced Siri was getting an AI upgrade.
Roh further said, “We are bringing more AI capabilities to our products and making them stronger.” Additionally, it was said that “as consumers use more AI capabilities, they will really feel the convenience and benefits that come with it. I strongly believe that these Galaxy AI and mobile AI are strong motivations and drivers for new product purchases.”
