WhatsApp is rolling out a new update via the Google Play Beta Program that brings the update to version 2.24.16.2. In this new feature, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to automatically add a background gradient filter to status updates, which is only available to some beta testers. The update brings a more user-friendly design to the status update screen, including a simplified overflow menu.
WhatsApp Adds Auto Gradient Filter for Status Updates
The menu is now limited to the essential options, like muting or reporting a status update and viewing contact information. Additionally, a new button has been introduced to close the status update screen, which provides an additional way to dismiss the view. WhatsApp is now expected to introduce new tools to enhance the visual appeal of images and videos.
The brand announced before that it is improving the viewing experience of status updates. According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp now has a feature that can automatically generate a background gradient filter for images and videos shared via status updates. However, this gradient is applied when the selected images or videos do not fill the screen, allowing users to get more appealing features for their status updates.
This new background blends the edges of the media with a gradient that attempts to give a fresh overview in sync with the overall design of the status update screen. The color of the selected item between the media and the background can also be chosen. Users can test the new background gradient filter feature for 1:1 photo format in status updates.
Different photo formats in WhatsApp Status updates help users understand the effect of the filter on their status updates and enjoy a more polished presentation. While the feature is not widespread yet, it may start rolling out to more people in the coming weeks. You can also look for other new features for Android, iOS, web/desktop, and Windows.
