In 17 Years, iPhone Successfully Adds Call Recording Support
According to a leak, iPhone users using iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 1 can now easily record calls and the on-device neural engine can automatically generate transcripts. When triggered in the device, this feature alerts other parties by telling them the call is being recorded.
After the call is over, users can listen to the audio recording in the Notes App, view its transcripts, and get a summary from Apple intelligence. This feature can prove very helpful. Apple has released iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 1 for some enrolled iPhone 15 Pro users.
iOS 18.1 is only limited to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users. The latest version of iOS 18 has brought call recording and transcription to the iPhone. However, the device has to be updated once to get this feature. Then, only then will iPhone users get these features.
A new audio recording option will be found in the device’s top-left corner of the call screen. When clicked, it will announce that the call is being recorded. After the call ends, the recording will automatically be saved in the Notes App. This tool can work offline as it uses an on-device neural engine. This upcoming feature will have to wait and is expected to be rolled out early in the final iOS 18.1 build in October.
