WhatsApp is Testing a New Chat Typing Indicator To Android
WhatsApp is constantly updating its platform to improve the user experience. One of the new features to improve communication will include a chat typing indicator. This indicator is designed to show whether the person you are chatting with is actively typing a message.
WhatsApp Chat Typing Indicator Feature
At the same time, WhatsApp has released an update in the form of beta 2.23.12.7 for Android devices. This new feature involves WhatsApp working on a feature to bring profile icons to group chats. Users can see profile icons next to the names of participants in the group conversations.
This new feature also makes it easier to identify group members and proves helpful. Users can soon identify any member, and it will show unrecognized members by default. WhatsApp will also start a more dynamic conversation experience by introducing a feature that gives real-time feedback during the chat.
This new chat typing indicator is available to some beta testers and shows a redesigned typing indicator directly in the chat interface. Earlier, the typing indicator used to appear in the app bar at the top of the screen when a user was typing in a conversation, and it also showed who was typing below the group name.
With this new update, the chat typing indicator now appears directly on the conversation screen as a chat bubble, making it easier for users to track who is typing. Apart from the chat indicator, this new update also introduces a voice recording indicator, both of which appear similarly. This shows whether the user is typing or recording the voice.
The chat typing indicator on WhatsApp is a valuable tool that enriches real-time communication by showing that the other person is actively writing a message. This improves the flow of the conversation and keeps users engaged. However, offering more privacy settings around this feature could also provide a better balance between engagement and user control.
