Gemini Live Brings Eight More Regional Languages with Hindi
Google for India 2024 held its annual India-focused event in New Delhi on Thursday. The event showcased new features and services designed for users, including new capabilities of its artificial intelligence chatbot Gemini, where the Mountain View-based tech giant introduced several new features and services.
Gemini Live Hindi And 8 More Regional Languages
Last time, Gemini Live introduced a two-way verbal communication feature, and around 10 new voices were also added to it. Now, support for eight other Indian languages, including Hindi, will also be added to it, as announced by Hema Budraju. It allows users to interact with the chatbot using their natural language through AI.
It also allows users to verbally ask questions to the AI, and it also gives them clear answers. The feature was rolled out to the Gemini Advanced customers last month, and now Gemini Live has been made available to users on the free tier as well. This includes Hindi as well as Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu.
To use the feature, users will need to open the Gemini app or activate the Gemini Assistant. Then, a new waveform icon will appear next to the text field, tapping on which will open the feature’s full-screen interface. Finally, users can start speaking their questions and get instant answers via the AI. To stop this, two buttons—Hold and End Call—are provided at the bottom of the screen.
On the other hand, some platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram have their live-streaming capabilities in India. Gemini Live’s addition of eight more regional languages will position it to compete more effectively in this space as audiences value content in their local languages more. In the coming days, internet users based on regional languages are expected to dominate India’s digital landscape.
