WhatsApp is working on a feature to introduce new themed icons for contacts and group chats
WhatsApp is rolling out a beta update with the latest version 2.24.23.18 for Android devices in which the brand is working on a theme feature for users to choose the main color of the app. Through this new feature, users can choose new themes and colors as per their wish.
WhatsApp new themed icons feature
This new feature will also introduce a light mode and a sleek black theme that can use black color instead of the traditional green. Users can also update this dark theme to use white as the primary accent color. All these changes are designed to bring a modern and minimalist look to the app by providing contrasting color schemes.
This new color theme enhances readability and also aligns with current design trends. The brand is now testing more visual enhancement in WhatsApp so that the theme feels consistent and polished across the interface. Currently, the contacts, group chats, communities, and icons in the app are all displayed in a neutral gray color, which provides a simple and uniform look even without profile photos.
However, the color added through this WhatsApp update will make it easier to visually identify contacts and groups at a glance. These new themed icons are especially useful when contacts or group chats do not have profile photos. These new themed icons will solve this problem by applying different colors and designs that help users associate a special icon with each group.
This new feature makes it easier to identify each group’s chat without opening them separately. However, this feature has not been rolled out widely yet, but it will soon be made available to all users.
