Google is Rolling out a Minor Change to Google Messages where Messages Will not Be Denoted As Drafts

Google has been constantly working to make all its apps and services more accessible and infused with the best possible features and enhancements. Meanwhile, Google Messages is no exception, as the Messages application has been getting a few upgrades and improvements recently. A few days back, Google announced that the Gemini model will be integrated into Google Messages for global users. The company is making a minor yet noticeable change within the Messages’ conversation section, which will no longer show draft messages.

Google is rolling out a minor yet noticeable change to Google Messages for Android. Previously, if a user entered a message but did not send it, the message would be reflected as a draft in the main conversation section. This is indicated by a normal text message written in Italics that significantly moves to the top of the conversations with “You” notation.

Your messages will not be indicated as Drafts

However, this behaviour will now be changed. The latest Google Messages for Android, which lands as 20240521_00_RC01 stable version and 20240531_00_RC00 beta version, removes the draft preview from Google Messages. Messages still move at the top of the conversations, but they don’t indicate that they’re draft messages.

Instead, a new timer has been added that will show the timing of the message. It appears similar to the message received by any contact, where the time indicator is upgraded, which will no longer denote a message as “Draft”. In contrast, this message recognition as the draft is helpful, though Google is removing this capability from Google Messages.
