Google starts rolling out the Pixel VPN by Google as a Play Store update to Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a owners
Google is constantly working on its apps and services to make them even better than before and offer users the most advanced and valuable experience. A while ago, Google announced that it was ditching VPN by Google One, which will be replaced by Pixel VPN by Google. Meanwhile, not so surprisingly, Google has started rolling out the latest version of Pixel VPN by Google as a part of the Play Store update.
A while ago, Google announced that the Pixel VPN by Google is listed within the Google Play Store listings as Android 14 QPR3 Beta. However, several Pixel users, including the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, and the Pixel Fold owners, have started seeing the Pixel VPN by Google on their respective Pixel devices. Also, VPN will no longer be available by 20th June, while the company replaced it with Pixel VPN by Google, which has now started rolling out as a Play Store update for the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, and the Pixel Fold owners.
Pixel VPN by Google is rolling out to Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a users without requiring an Android 14 QPR3 build
It’s important to note that the latest version of the Pixel VPN by Google started rolling out with the 1.0.635841321 version as a Play Store update for the Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a owners without requiring their devices to get the latest Android 14 QPR3 or June Pixel Feature Drop. If their respective Pixel devices are running on the Android 14 QPR2 build, they can get to the Google Play Store listings to install the Pixel VPN by Google directly.
Meanwhile, you need to set it up by opening it from the app’s listings, allowing notifications permissions, and allowing mobile network usage. Once done, you must manually add the new Pixel VPN using the Google Quick Settings Tile while removing the old one from your Pixel’s Quick Settings.
In addition, Google has made the new Pixel VPN by Google available to some selected countries, including-
Austria, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Belgium, Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Denmark, South Korea, Finland, Spain, France, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Iceland, Taiwan, Ireland, United Kingdom, Italy, United States, respectively.
