Google Maps is rolling out a convenient feature for users with a separate icon to help users find EV charging stations. Even if you are a Kia or Tata Nexon consumer, you do not need to worry about anything, and you can use Google Maps to find these charging stations.
You must choose your vehicle and plug type to use this feature. This new update of Google Maps will allow you to show your vehicle type and its information along with gas stations or EV charging stations.
However, choosing this vehicle and plug type will be considered as the first step. To use it, you have to follow the steps given below –
- First, Open Google Maps and tap on your profile picture at the top.
- Now, tap on Settings, then Navigation Settings.
- Select the vehicle Types.
- Go back to the settings page and click on the Electric Vehicle settings.
- Now, click on the Add Plug.
- Choose the Plug for the EV.
Additionally, you will have to use the second step to find an EV charging station
- Open Google Maps and scroll down the menu below the search bar.
- After that, Tap on More.
- Select Service at the top and click on Charging Stations.
- A list of nearby charging stations will appear on your screen, and you must choose the station according to your needs.
- Scroll the horizontal menu and click on the filter or the icon.
- You can filter the results by operating hours, plug type and charging speed.
- Once you find the right charging station, you can charge your EV.

Note: You can also find EV charging stations on Google Maps, which makes it a breeze. However, this feature might be a bit tricky to use now due to India’s limited EV charging stations. We can expect this feature to be rolled out everywhere soon.
