Android Automotive is set to bring a new heads-up mini pane that will alert you when using Google Maps about the distance to be covered. It also gives the estimated time. This latest feature will come with the Android Automotive P3.1.10 version.

Earlier, it was limited to the center console of vehicles running the car-based OS. When starting directions on Google Maps, the user gets a “Block” in the dashboard that shows the estimated travel time in green and the distance estimated in miles or kilometers. This feature will show the estimated local arrival time based on speed.

It can also obscure some keymap directions. Once you reach your destination, the navigation automatically stops. Additionally, a small pop-up panel disappears from view, and you see a simple Maps overview or even the Android Automotive dashboard.

New features in Automotive roll out slower than Android itself, so changes can have a bigger impact while you are driving, navigating, or using the in-car UI. You can also use Android Automotive to play music or other media apps without losing track.
