Google App Now Features a Colorful New Icon Shortcut

A few weeks ago, Google worked on changing how you access search in the app and released a new icon-based look for the shortcut carousel. All these new changes have hit testers in the latest beta. Apart from this, the focus was also on the bottom bar of the Google App.

Presumably, after this change, you can now scroll below the main search bar. According to 9to5Google, Google had started working to develop a new look for the app’s interface, in which the text-filled buttons were also replaced with clean, colorful iconography. This latest Google app feature can be seen in beta 15.34.

This new change allows the shortcut buttons to fit on the screen, but having more cluttered text labels than expected can cause trouble for the other shortcut buttons. Google has included only five of these shortcuts, but reducing the UI spacing could have fit all five on the screen together. It is expected that Google may add more features in the future.

Recent features include searching photos, translating text, solving homework, recognizing songs, and shopping for products in screenshots. Some time ago, music recognition and Google Lenses were also added. It seems that these features will soon make it to the stable release.
