Google Messages has always ensured to make things better and much more convenient, from sending or receiving messages to staying connected with your loved ones. With that, the application is now making a little more effort by introducing a new change in its camera UI, significantly placing the camera icon on the home screen, which makes it much more quick and convenient to send pictures and videos.
Earlier, Google Messages used the phone’s default camera app, allowing users to access the camera UI from within any particular conversation. In order to remove this trademark flaw, Google is releasing a new update that brings an all-new camera UI by replacing the viewfinder icon that’s placed by default within the Google Messages app.
As spotted on the Google Messages running Beta (20240308_01_RC00) version, this update is available to Beta users and comes with a significant change in the camera UI, while the new camera UI is pretty basic for now. With that, you can easily access the new camera UI by opening Aunty-specific chat and simply tapping on the camera icon placed right on the message bar.
The new camera UI of Google Messages consists of some levels with which you can adjust the zoom capability, which has three zooming options by default placed just above the shutter button. However, there’s no option for grid, but there’s a flashlight icon right at the top right corner, and you also get two options to choose from: one is photo and the other is video, respectively.
However, previously, for using the camera UI in Google Messages, you needed to choose between the photo or video mode before you entered the full-screen camera UI. In addition, you also get a camera switching icon, which allows you to choose either the front-facing camera or the rear-facing camera.
The latest update has been spotted to be rolling out to Google Messages’ beta version through a server-side update. Although several customization options are still missing, eventually Google might address this, but for now, the new camera UI within Google Messages is pretty basic.
