Google already confirmed that the brand is working on a “charge optimization” page in Android 15 that will allow Pixel users to set a manual charging limit of 80% so that the Pixel phone will only charge until its battery reaches 80% of its maximum capacity. Before this, the brand also unveiled some new features of Android 15.

However, the feature can help increase the longevity of your Pixel phone and will also be useful for those who forget to charge the phone. This will eliminate the need to replace the smartphone’s battery frequently.

It is not clear how much battery backup can be given under this feature. This feature slows down charging when the battery level reaches a certain percentage or limits charging so that the device will not charge more than 80%.

Google Pixel phones have this adaptive charging feature, and soon, the brand may include an option to manually limit charging to 80% in adaptive charging on Pixel phones.

The feature was introduced on Pixel phones in December 2020 with the Pixel Feature drop. The feature would keep the device’s battery at 80% and then slowly charge the device to 100% before the user’s alarm rings.

This prevents the device from being unnecessarily charged for a long time. Additionally, Google can automatically limit charging to 70% to 80% in its Pixel Tablet. This latest feature was also spotted within the SystemUI app in the Android 15 beta 4 update.

According to the code within the app, to use it, one has to go to “charging Optimization”, then after selecting the page settings, switch “use charging Optimization” to it. Once enabled, two radio buttons will appear on the page, allowing the user to select the existing “adaptive charging” mode or the new Limit 80% mode.

Unfortunately, this feature is not likely to be rolled out at this time, but it is expected to be available on Pixel devices soon. Before rolling it out, the brand may also release a list of devices that will reveal which devices will receive this update. On the other hand, Apple recently added this feature in iOS 18.
