After this, Google confirmed that this related application will be removed from Pixel phones by default in the future, but it is also disabled at the moment. Google Pixel phones are believed to have been shipped with vulnerable “Showcase” applications that could have caused huge losses to the user and his device. The Showcase application was pre-installed on all Pixel phones.
According to the company, this application was created to enable demos for Google Pixel phones in Verizon stores in the US. However, this app has been pre-installed on all Google smartphones since 2017, but it is not enabled by default. Why it was pre-installed on the device needs to be clarified.
Pixel smartphones are considered to be the most secure Android phones these days, but this vulnerability could be the same one that attackers use to carry out a man-in-the-middle attack, inject malicious code, and execute it.
The security firm clarifies that it plans to phase out Android smartphones in the coming years. According to Google, the company will soon remove this showcase app from all pixel smartphones in the coming weeks.
