Google received the approval from the FDA to use the thermometer on humans in January 2024. Before releasing these new features, the brand stated that its sensor could only measure the temperature of objects and food but now, it is rolling out the new body temperature sensor features for their Pixel devices.

Now the brand has also rolled out this feature in many of its devices, which is currently available only on European devices. The feature was launched in the US first. According to the Fitbit support page, Google may soon make this feature widely available. This new feature will first appear on Android 14-based devices, including the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pro 9 XL.
The body temperature feature on these devices is available in European countries. Once rolled out, it will combine object temperature with body temperature on the home screen of the Pixel Thermometer. It will also allow you to connect to Fitbit and log your temperature through the setup process. To use it, you will get a voice assist, through which you will have to place the phone close to your forehead and then move it to your left or right, which is a 4-second process.
After that, you will get the temperature data, and in this guide, users can also choose an age range from 0 months to 3+ years in the settings. Apart from this, users can also easily disable it and save it. It also provides a shortcut to the Pixel Thermometer.
According to the Fitbit support article, this new feature can be rolled out in many other countries, including Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and Northern Ireland.
This new feature may also be available in many other languages, like Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish. However, this feature is not live on European devices yet, but it is expected to be rolled out widely soon.
