Redesigned Google Contacts for Android
The first and last name fields appear after the profile photo. Google has removed the dropdown feature that allows users to quickly access prefixes, middle names, and suffixes. The company has brought everything to the center so that users can see all the details right before them.
Google placed a button behind the main information for the content, like email and important dates. Users can also delete it according to their wish using the red button on the right. In Google Contacts, users can now also use shortcuts to “add new address” and “add new labels” for any contact, with “Notes” also appearing below.
This new feature also includes an “add field” at the bottom, which can add a middle name, phonetic pronunciation, prefix, suffix, nickname, file name, job title, departments, related people, website, custom fields, etc. This new feature will be widely rolled out with version 4.39 of Google Contacts.
Besides this design, Google is working on an updated home screen widget in the contacts app. This new feature will remove the limit on user’s favorite contacts, which currently is seven.
